Career in food blogging is a booming prospect nowadays. It does require a lot of patience because growth in this field takes time. In rare cases, people taste success in a short span of time while on the other hand, food bloggers struggle to create a target audience for themselves. Career growth in food blogging depends on a number of factors such as engaging content, consistency, audience reach, engagement, etc. Social media plays a pivotal role in food blogger’s career. There have been many such instances with food bloggers where a video got viral and gained millions of views in a short span of time. You can post literally anything on the internet from any corner of the world and it can go viral within days or even hours. Such is the impact of social media.
A food blogging career may look appealing to you but before you jump to any conclusions, you must remember a few things:
Never start a food blogging career because of money. If you go in with a mindset of earning money, you will most probably fail at an early stage and as a result you will have an ephemeral career. You must step in only if you are passionate about it. It should come out of your pure love to pursue this career. Once you step in, there’s no going back. You will have to devote all your time to it but if you really love doing it, it will become your 2nd nature.
There are no prerequisites to start a food blog. You don’t need a prior background or particular set of skills to ace in this career. All you need is your passion and perseverance for surviving in this career. You will spend hours and hours into this. You will have to build your network. You will learn a lot of things as and when you progress in this field.
Blogging is certainly not easy. At one point, you might feel like quitting it. It’s completely fine to be demotivated at times. At a very early stage when bloggers have 4k-5k followers on social media, they are approached by brands for brand collaboration which ask them to endorse their brand for free. They don’t earn anything. Isn’t it obvious? Brands collaborate (paid partnerships) with bloggers who have made it big. They would approach bloggers who can create an impact on social media and their followers are easily influenced by them. Why would they pay bloggers who don’t have a huge following on social media, and as a result, these big brands approach small bloggers to endorse their brands for free. Some brands that are not popular among the public, approach small bloggers and even pay them a certain amount for endorsements.
Consistency is the key. You must post engaging content regularly on your website/ social media. This way you can build trust among your audience and they will know what type of content to expect from you. Simultaneously, you must post engaging content on social media without worrying too much about the quantity of the content. Be unique in what you’re doing. Explore new places, review them on Google and on other social media platforms. Connect with restaurants and other bloggers. Build a network for your blogging career. Create social media content that your target audience wants you to create.
The blogging world is constantly evolving. Blogging can be done in two different ways. You can either provide unique lip-smacking recipes on the internet, or else you can collaborate with restaurants, promote them on social media, review these places and earn money out of it. You must keep yourself updated with new trends coming up. Bloggers cover so many aspects all at once such as photography, food styling, providing feedback, videography and video editing. Those who cover recipes in their blogs have to cook, bake, manage their time and have one eye on their website. Phew! That’s a lot of things.
Ways to earn money out of food blogging?
You can earn money in this field through brand collaboration and endorsing their product. You can try and connect with restaurants, brands on your own or else you can wait for the brands to start approaching you.
Display advertisements on your blogging website. This can be your primary source of income, and as a result, you should not overlook this. This can help you earn a lot of money and can certainly pay for your expenses like your groceries, your equipment, website domain charges, etc.
You can also start rolling out your own products, home-made food, etc. You can conduct workshops for people willing to learn new recipes and baking stuff. You can also sell your own recipe books online for cooking enthusiasts.
These are just a few ideas that can help you earn money. There are certainly many other ways in which you can grow and earn money. This career path is now chosen by many individuals and this field is only going to grow from here. The level of competition is growing by every passing day. All you can do is post the best content and stand out from the crowd.
